Interior Designer co search

Lotsa ID huntings coming up, and all weekends are burnt. Keep doing research online to get IDs recommendations and read up ppl's reno experiences. Have gotten quotes back from the following IDs:

Ideal House ID - Melvin Yick
Renozone - Colin Phua
A&D Interior Decoration - Thomas Ling
Inn-Place Design - Michael Chng
WeiKen / Future Home - Desmond Lim
Barouge Dzign - Mike
Hub Builders/ Lian Ann - Amos Yong
G-Plan Design - Kelvin

Have thought of using Contractor in order to have some $$$ savings. But in the end, we gave up the idea.

At the end stage of quotation finalization, we shortlisted 2 IDs to consider who to offer the contract to. Believe me that this is a wallet and heart fight. Cos the ID we like is not the cheapest; vice versa the cheapest quote is not from the ID we like most.

We somehow go for a toss coin solution; We need to choose between COLIN PHUA from RENOZONE and MELVIN YICK from IDEAL HOUSE. Melvin can give us almost what we wanted at much cheaper price with foc 20ft kitchen cabinets, kitchen sink & tap and hob & hood!! Alot of things he said 'ok lah nvm i do for u foc/special'. Maybe thats scare us off a little, a bit to 'too good to be true'. Another factor is Melvin said Ideal House do not use the boss's carpentary factory, it will be their sub-con who will be doing all the carpentry work, thou they also gave warranty... But whether it will be 'warrantied' when time to comes, i have some doubts. Colin have good feedbacks since years ago and he is one of the chief partner in Renozone, that why we feel he is more trustworthy, but this decision hurt our wallet slightly.

Managed to get Rubine Kitchen stainless steel sink + long tap and Ellane Chimney hood + glass hob complimentary from Colin. Our ID has gone through the hassles and make effort to talk to his vendors/partners to give discounts for our project! Simply no excuse not to accept this offer!

Signed contract with COLIN PHUA from RENOZONE INTERIOR DESIGN HOUSE on 17th March 2007, amounting to less than $30K in the contract.
